Concept and Design

For years Seaspin Project, the design section of Seaspin brand, sought to design a model that would satisfy the high standards required by the brand and differed from the classical form of the “swimmer” poppers.”
None of the various models considered, however, had the same quality of innovation, swimming peculiarity and efficiency of catches which showed Toto 131.
The name comes from Antonio Crasà, Toto for friends, Seaspin staff member, who had the first idea and built the first wooden prototype that started the entire process of design and implementation of the model.
With the realization of this lure, because of its aesthetic singularity, but above all what technically represents, rises a lot the bar of the latest generation design regarding hard baits. In this case, the design studio leaves the natural pattern of color imitations or the like to the real, to go looking for new profiles and surfaces that are functional to the movement that you want the lure to have in water.
What is, therefore, all this innovation about? The use of a simple shape but which involved more than two years of studies and tests to be placed correctly and ensure that while swimming creates complex forces that cause surprising actions: an hole.

A simple hole that however involves an important innovation in the world of baits. A hole which obviously generates different vibrations from normal and that, for this reason, are perceived by the fish more effectively and that because very interesting behavior in water hardly comparable with any other commercially .
A designer can immediately imagine what significance and what forces are generated due to the presence of an anomaly hole in the rear part of the model. These forces are created by the particular and asymmetrical shape of the surfaces that create the hole and interrupt the threads of water that normally adhere to the sides and body of the lure during retrieval.

To properly design the surfaces, particularly in the area around the hole, let’s call it “the hole chamber,” we decided to use programs for structural mechanics and fluid dynamics that offered us the opportunity to simulate various configurations for the structural behavior of the lure.

The two asymmetrical flaring sides are used, in fact, to convey a greater quantity of air and water in the area in question and, in conjunction with curved abutment surfaces, create a friction in the back of the lure and interact continuously with the swim of the model. We could simplify the operation as a drag which among other things produces a characteristic “thrill” at regular intervals during the retrieval action that is really very interesting.

In addition to this, the bait after entering the water accumulates, right inside the hole, an air bubble that lightens the rear favoring the initial jerking .
Jerking subsequently with energy, the lure creates a tube of bubbles, which disperses in water, decidedly superior to that formed by the ordinary popper, both for the presence of the air surplus retained by the hole and especially for the strong turbulence that creates within the complex system of “hole chamber.”

Another characteristic caused by the rear brake, discussed above, is the immediate arrest when the angler stops retrieving. The bait stops as during the break for a video! It stops immediately Generally can be described as a popper “swimmer during the retrieval action in and out of the water automatically without requiring any particular action with the rod by the angler.

in this cross-section made at the height of the hole it can be clearly seen the botton part of the lure

Retrieved linearly, or alternating long and short jerks, creates a truly impressive underwater pipe of babbles interspersed with a characteristic “thrill” of the bait that enters independently in vibration at regular intervals. Toto is also suitable for popping. Launch? Very far away.
Regarding the “hole of the chamber”, which undoubtedly characterizes all of the bait aesthetics, have been chosen specific metallic colors, but not reflective, to create gloss /matt alternation while swimming that has always given excellent results in catching .

In transparent models, this different brightness is caused by the rhythmic flashes due to the different angles of the inner metallic holographic foil during the action of rolling.
Given the particular strength of the treble hooks is particularly dedicated to bluefish and amberjack but in general to all the fish of the Mediterranean region as barracuda and tuna species of medium size.
